Craig Gordon Crazy nigtht for the Celtic keeper. Made a couple of important stops but left horrifically exposed at timed, especially in the second period when the goals seemed to rain in on him. Entirely wrongfooted for the opening goal when Kristoffer Ajer deflected a shot past him. Goal he lost at his near post will irk him. (6)

Mikael Lustig Dragged all over the place at times by Patrick Twumasi and not a night that he will wish to remember. Out on his feet at times and could have done much better defensively. All over the place in the second period. (5)

Kristoffer Ajer In for Jozo Simunovic for only his fourth game for Celtic and gutted when he deflected Dmitri Shomko’s rasping shot into his own net midway through the opening period. Could perhaps have adjusted his feet a little quicker, and seemed spooked in the second half as Astana piled on the pressure. (5)

Nir Bitton The game that might settle the theory that he can play as a central defender. Ran ragged by Twumasi and out of position too often. Uncomfortable at the back and on this evidence would seem highly unsuitable for playing there in any top level game. (5)

Kieran Tierney Usual shift where he did much of his work further up the park. Couple of excellent crosses but put under pressure defensively. (7)

James Forrest Missed a first-half header after a Kieran Tierney cross but overall another impressive European performance. Made was in the second period as Rodgers rang the changes. (6)

Olivier Ntcham Scored the goal that took the pressure off of Celtic ten minutes from time. Strolled the opening period but Celtic's midfield entirely bypassed for much of the second. (7)

Scott Brown Put down an early marker with his tackle on Laszlo Kleinheisler that resulted in the Astana midfielder forced off in the early stages. Blotted his copy book at the beginning of the second period when he lost possession twice in as many minutes to allow Astana to score. Not his finest Celtic display. (6)

Callum McGregor Put in his usual industrious effort in the middle of the park and was instrumental in the build-up to Scott Sinclair’s goal when he shipped the ball out to the Englishman. Replaced by Tom Rogic. (6)

Scott Sinclair Denied a goal after a cracking run in the immediate aftermath of Astana’s opener when he drove forward. Keeper did well to stand up to the shot. Not dissuaded, however, he netted the fifth goal of Celtic’s qualification campaign with a beautifully executed drive. Made way for Stuart Armstrong as Celtic tried to stem the tide of Astana possession. (7)

Leigh Griffiths Less than happy when Scott Sinclair went for it instead of squaring it to him in the opening half. Ran his socks off as the lone striker but chances few and far between, particularly in the second period. Will be irked at blasting one effort over the bar after chesting Tierney’s cross down – a miss that became harder to take when Astana netted a fourth 20 seconds later. Got the goal to add a little gloss to the scoreline in the final minute of regulation time. (7)

Tom Rogic Took over from McGregor and managed to help Celtic get a little bit of composure back. (6)

Anthony Ralston On for Forrest and worked hard to try and help what was an exceptionally porous defence. (5)

Armstrong on for Sinclair Took a hefty kick but had a hand as Celtic re-asserted themselves in the final ten minutes. (5)
