CELTIC midfielder Liam Henderson is on trial with Italian side Bari as he edges towards a Parkhead exit.

The midfielder's contract expires in May and he appears set to join the Serie B outfit after failing to feature in Brendan Rodgers' plans.

Reports in Italy on Monday said that the 21-year-old will spend a trial period with the Stadio San Nicola outfit before agreeing a deal.

Henderson has played just 23 minutes in the Scottish Premiership this season after gaining just 10 appearances last season under Brendan Rodgers.

The Scotland Under-21 internationalist helped Hibernian to the Scottish Cup in 2015/16, after a three-month loan stint in Norway with Rosenborg the season before.

Bari currently sit fourth in the Serie B table, five points behind leaders Palermo, as they target ending a seven-year absence from the top-flight.
