COSTA RICA boss Oscar Ramirez will make a personal visit to Brendan Rodgers this week to plead with him to give defender Cristian Gamboa games to keep his World Cup dream alive.

The right-back has made one solitary appearance for the Hoops, since he endured an uncomfortable evening in Germany when Celtic were beaten 3-0 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League in October.

But he remains an important member for the World Cup-bound Costa Ricans and he played 75 minutes of their 1-0 win at Hampden against Scotland.

Ramirez will visit several European clubs this week to talk to his players and their managers.

He is due to meet Gamboa and Rodgers at Celtic’s training complex on Thursday.
