IT has been another season of domestic dominance for Celtic in Scotland, with Brendan Rodgers' side just one game away from successfully defending the domestic Treble.

The Bhoys sealed their seventh league title in style with a crushing 5-0 win over Rangers at the end of April as they continue to assert their superiority over the Scottish game.

But where does a seventh straight league title rank them in Europe?

We have had a look at the continent’s most dominant sides to see how Celtic’s run compares.

BATE Borisov (12 consecutive titles)

BATE secured their 12th successive league triumph six months ago, as the championship in Belarus takes place between April and November.

Their long period of dominance shows no signs of abating this term, as six games into the current season they have won every game and sit top of the table with a four-point cushion over Dinamo Minsk.

Celtic, Ludogorets Razgrad and The New Saints (7 titles)

Celtic wrapped up a seventh straight title with three games to spare when they destroyed rivals Rangers at Parkhead last month. They can further assert their domestic dominance by defending the Scottish Cup against Motherwell later in May, which would see them win the Treble for a second year running.

Bulgarians Ludogorets Razgrad are keeping pace with the teams on seven titles, having clinched the First League trophy with a 13-point cushion over second-placed CSKA Sofia this season.

In Wales TNS triumphed once again, finishing the season 14 points clear of Bangor City. The Welsh champions also made it to the semi-finals of the Irn-Bru Cup, but defeat to Dumbarton ended their chances of cup silverware.

*Juventus (7 titles)

The Italian champions were made to sweat this season by Napoli and while the Scudetto race is technically still not over, the Old Lady require just one point in two games to make it seven in a row.

Even should they lose both of their remaining games and Napoli pick up maximum points, their challengers would require a 16-goal swing in goal difference to end Juve’s dominance.

Bayern Munich (6 titles)

A 4-1 win away to Augsburg at the start of April ensured that Bayern’s iron grip of the Bundesliga shield is not letting up.

The Bavarian giants put the title beyond doubt with five games to spare and have the chance to make it a domestic double when they meet Eintracht Frankfurt in the cup final next Saturday, the team currently coached by the man who will take over in the Bayern hot seat this summer, Niko Kovac.

The Herald:

*APOEL (6 titles)

The title race in Cyprus is a thriller this year and will go down to the final weekend to decide whether APOEL will clinch a sixth crown or Apollon secure their first since 2005/06.

Going into the final round of fixtures, APOEL are one point ahead but with a goal difference that is inferior by nine strikes. They face third-placed Anorthosis at home on Saturday knowing a win would be enough to clinch the title, but if they fall short it will go down to Apollon’s away trip to sixth-placed Omonia Nicosia a day later.

Who saw their runs end this year?

Basel came into the 2017/18 campaign on the back of eight straight Swiss Super League triumphs, but their period of dominance came to an end when Young Boys clinched the title.

Olympiakos let their grip of the Greek title slip, finishing third this season behind winners AEK Athens and runners-up PAOK to end their chances of recording an eighth straight championship victory.
