CONOR SAMMON is looking forward to getting among the goals again after sealing a season-long loan deal at Motherwell.
The 31-year-old forward joined the Fir Park club yesterday from Hearts, and he believes that his physical attributes mean that he will complement this new side’s style of play.
“I’m just looking forward to getting stuck in here, playing a lot of games, scoring a lot of goals, and just being a part of a successful season,” Sammon told the club website.

“I think the other strikers in the squad are similar. They’re physical, strong and quick, so I definitely think I can fit in here and I think my style of play will help me to have a good season here.
“And I’m looking forward to that, to training with the lads and to getting familiar with each other and how we play.”
Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson declared himself happy with his squad after the capture of Sammon yesterday, with the only concern now keeping a hold of his best talent until the transfer window closes.
A bid in the region of £250,000 from Hull City for Cedric Kipre has already been booted out this summer, while an offer from Grimsby Town for Ryan Bowman was dismissed out of hand earlier this week.
“You think you’ve had three really good weeks of planning, and you’ve got the squad in that you want,” Robinson said.
“You think you are quite content and ready to go, and all of a sudden, bids come in.

“We’re always going to be open to that, everyone has got their price unfortunately.
“It’s frustrating as a manager because you think you’re building something, only to be open to bids.
“But we knew that, we knew the parameters and we have had bids, but none that will be accepted or even close to being accepted.”
Motherwell kick off their Betfred Cup campaign at home to Edinburgh City tonight, and Robinson is hopeful that a strong start in the competition can be the springboard to another successful season.
“You have to remember where everything started last year,” Robinson said. “We had a terrific start – we won four out of four in the cup – and momentum is everything in football.
“So, it’s a vitally important game for us in terms of hitting the ground running.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
