Frustrated Stephen Robinson has insisted St Mirren 'deserved a point' against Rangers despite falling to a narrow defeat.

The Buddies boss admitted his side will take heart from the 1-0 loss as Cyriel Dessers' strike was the telling moment of quality in Paisley.

However, Robinson reckons St Mirren were worthy of a point having made Rangers look "average at times".

Asked for his assessment of the match, he told Sky Sports: "Frustration because we feel like we deserved a point. We made a very good Rangers side look average at times.

"Difficult conditions obviously with the pitch but we were brave, we pressed them really well at times and won the ball back and were composed when we had it but ultimately you don't get any points for performances.

"Rangers were blocking things on the line, Alex Gogic had a great shot and we hit the crossbar, we kept delivering balls. We tried to play to the conditions, it didn't suit us either today, we wanted to pass it a little bit more.

"The performance doesn't get us points but we take a lot of heart out of it."

Robinson handed first league appearances to January recruits Hyeok-kyu Kwon and James Scott against Rangers with Jaden Brown on the bench for the defeat in Paisley.

But there will be no more arrivals in Paisley during this transfer window with a stretched budget meaning any activity this week would be players leaving the club.

"Hopefully not, no," Robinson said when quizzed on being busy in the final week of the transfer window.

"It certainly won't be me bringing anybody else in. We've had to get three out and bring three in so it's more likely that someone else will leave rather than us bringing any more signings in."
