Dundee United aren't giving Raith Rovers more tickets for the upcoming Scottish Championship clash at Tannadice - because they are rattled.

That's the opinion of Raith manager Ian Murray, who reckons the Tayside outfit thought they would have the title wrapped up by now, but with seven games remaining the side's sit level on 58 points.

Raith were handed over 2000 briefs when the pair met in Dundee on December 16 yet United chief's have given them only 1300 for this one, rejecting the visitors plea for more after the allocation sold out in two hours.

Discussing the ticket snub, Murray confessed the situation, that will leave sections of the stand empty on March 30, is a blow and labelled it unnecessary in their attempt to find some advantage.

He said: "United’s decision to reduce our fans’ ticket allocation is a blow in terms of that it's a shame more than anything else. It's unnecessary I think quite frankly. Will it make much difference in the game? We're not sure.

"I don't have any ill feeling towards Dundee United on their playing side, Jim and the players, because it's not a football decision. It looks like a club decision from Dundee United who are trying to pull out all the stops to give them a little bit of an advantage to get over the line.

"You can look at it two ways. It's a wee bit silly, a wee bit naughty but on the flip side they're doing everything they can to turn the tide in their favour. If you look at their mentality, we now know publicly that we've got them a little bit rattled going into the last seven games.

"So it might add just a little more pressure on Dundee United because everybody expected I think by this stage of the season that they would kind of be home and hosed and planning for a return to the Premier League. So time will tell if it's the right decision or not."
