SPORTS fans in all of the nations competing in the Commonwealth Games will be able to follow the action from Glasgow 2014 on television for the first time ever.

Organisers have announced that deals have been secured with broadcasters in each of the 71 competing nations and territories, as well as countries outside the Commonwealth, including the US and China.

CBS Sports in America, Television Jamaica in the Caribbean and Network 10 in Australia are among the firms to agree deals.

The BBC has won the rights to broadcast the Games, which will have a global audience of more than 1.5 billion, in the UK.

David Grevemberg, chief executive of Glasgow 2014, said: "Every nation and territory in the Commonwealth will have broadcast access to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and we are thrilled that such a truly global audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the world-class sporting events that will be on offer across 11 days of exciting competition, connecting millions of people to the best Commonwealth athletes."

The sale of television rights is part of the Glasgow 2014 commercial programme which aims to raise £100 million from licensing, merchandise, sponsorship and ticketing.
