A collection of gifts the Queen has received from Commonwealth countries is to go on display as part of the countdown to the Glasgow 2014 Games.

More than 70 presents, such as tapestries, portraits and even a pair of canoes are part of the collection at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

The Queen has visited almost all of the Commonwealth, including a 40,000-mile tour of the West Indies, Australasia, Asia and Africa between 1953 and 1954 to mark her coronation.

Other items going on display include a shell collage from the Bahamas, an Inuit wall hanging, and a Botswanan tapestry.

The Commonwealth: Gifts to The Queen opens on Friday and will run for eight months.
