Opening ceremony

The 60,000 capacity home of Celtic will play host to the Glasgow 2014 opening ceremony.

One of the best football venues in the UK and Europe, the ground was redeveloped during the 90s, raising the capacity and allowing for a better atmosphere with spectators as close as possible to the action.

Danny Boyle's opening ceremony for London 2012 set the bar extremely high and although Glasgow 2014 may not have a budget to match, it will certainly have the passion.

A joyous parade will introduce each competing nation, with 4,500 athletes and hundreds of officials and coaches taking part. The event will conclude with the culmination of the Queen's Baton Relay which will have visited Commonwealth countries and territories across the globe.

Situated just a stone's throw from the Athletes' village, Celtic Park is the perfect venue for an electric opening ceremony.
