Ryan Stevenson has left Partick Thistle after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Stevenson joined League One Ayr United on an emergency 28-day loan deal just before Christmas, but he is now free to make the switch to the club he supported as a boy permanent after becoming frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities at Firhill.

The attacker joined Thistle in the summer of 2014 after being released by Hearts upon their relegation to the Championship.

In a successful first season at the club he bagged 7 goals in all competitions to finish second in the Jags' scoring charts, and he was also the top provider of assists as his side finished in eighth position.

The 31-year-old has found starting opportunities harder to come by this term though, leading to a parting of the ways being deemed in the best interests of both parties.
