Ross County head coach Don Cowie has informed his players that the outcomes of other matches will not affect their focus ahead of Sunday's Scottish Premiership clash against Rangers.

Following St Johnstone's victory over Hibernian last weekend, County, currently second-bottom, fell four points adrift. The gap may widen further after Saturday's fixtures.

Nonetheless, Cowie is prioritising his efforts on orchestrating a potential upset against Philippe Clement's side, while choosing to remain undistracted by results elsewhere.

Cowie said: “You see it, naturally, you can’t not see it. I’m sure St Johnstone or whoever, when we beat Hearts the other week, were slightly frustrated. It’s just part and parcel.

“It’s about us and concentrating on ourselves and trying to accumulate as many points as we can to get this club safe.

“We know we’ve got six games left and we are going to attack those six games and we are going to attack those six games and try and achieve what we want to do.”

On the game with title-chasing Rangers, Cowie confessed: "Rangers are in very good form, so it will be a difficult game. But at the same time, we've been in really good form, especially at home, so it's one we've got to go into with a positive mindset."

The Staggies lost 3-1 at Ibrox in Feburary, however Cowie was impressed with how his side handled Rangers for large parts of the encounter.

He recalled: "Yeah it was the start of me coming into this role. What I seen was a team that worked really hard together, stuck through a difficult game, you know Rangers were very good that night.

"But we've improved a lot since then, we've picked up some points and it's about taking the belief from that performance and what we've done since then and bringing it here at home, where we've been very good."
