Ross County interim manager Don Cowie has challenged his players to embrace the chance to prove people wrong when they face Rangers.

County sit second bottom in the Scottish Premiership and need to claw back points to evade a second consecutive season in the play-offs.

Cowie said: “Everything outwith the changing room and the club will assume Rangers are just going to come here and win.

“You have got to use that as a motivation. Life in general is about trying to prove people wrong and come Sunday it will be about us trying to prove people wrong again.”

Cowie is unbeaten in four home matches since stepping up to succeed Derek Adams on an interim basis after the former Motherwell player’s brief and unhappy third spell in charge came to an end.

The Staggies have taken eight points from home matches against Livingston, St Mirren, Hibernian and Hearts.

“We are back at home, our home form has been really good, performance levels have been good," Cowie added.

"It’s going to be a challenging game naturally, but it’s one we have to embrace and look forward to.”
