ALAN STUBBS, the Hibernian head coach, insists he has not given up hope of re-signing Celtic midfielder Dylan McGeouch.

McGeouch spent last season on loan at Easter Road and was a huge success as Hibs finished second in the Championship before missing out on promotion via the play-offs.

Celtic have since taken up an option to extend the 22-year-old's contract for another season, but the Hibs boss admitted he will continue to keep tabs on McGeouch's situation at Parkhead.

"Dylan is a Celtic player and we will continue to monitor that situation," Stubbs said. "If he was to become available then I'm sure Hibs would be interested."

Mark Burchill, the Livingston manager, meanwhile, believes he has signed a player good enough for the Ladbrokes Premiership after snapping up freed Aberdeen midfielder Kieran Gibbons.

Burchill did not expect the 20-year-old, who made just one substitute's appearance for the Aberdeen first team, to become available. However, he is thrilled to have beaten off competition for him.

"When I knew he was available we got him in for a couple of days' training," Burchill said. "And after the first day I knew I wanted to offer him a contract.

"I'm delighted to have got it over the line because I know there was a lot of interest in him and I definitely see him playing for the first-team in the coming season.

"I'm sure had he been at about seven or eight Premier League teams other than Aberdeen last season he would have played more often."
