SCOTT BROWN knows Celtic stand on the brink of history but warned that making it a reality won't be easy.

The SPFL Premiership leaders face Dundee United twice in the coming eight days, tomorrow in the William Hill Scottish Cup quarter-final and again in next Sunday's League Cup final. Victory in both would put them in great shape to clinch a first domestic treble since 2001 but, on the back of a league defeat to St Johnstone, Brown warned they still had a lot to do.

"Yeah, it's a great chance to make history but we have to take each game as it comes," said the Celtic captain "We are in the cup against Dundee United and we want to get through, but it will be hard. They are a good team and they will make it difficult for us and try to catch us on the break.

"It is never going to be easy to win a treble. You need to battle in every game to get the ball down and play. We didn't do that as planned on Wednesday but it's all about how we bounce back. We have a strong mentality and character in the dressing room to do that."

Celtic's fixture list is a congested one in the months ahead but Brown believes they have the players to deal with the demands.

"It's been pretty hectic, but it's been good as well," he added. "The games we have been playing in have all been positive. A rest would be amazing! No, we are happy to play games and we are still in all of the ][domestic] competitions. That's the big aim for us and we want to play in as many games as we can. We are going to be stretched but we have enough players to cope with it. There were guys who weren't in the 18-man squad on Wednesday that could easily play most weeks. It won't be a problem. It was always going to be hard. Just look at the amount of games we have played so far this year, it's a lot more than any other team in Scotland. That's what the squad is for."
