CELTIC raided League Cup final rivals Dundee United at the double after they agreed a fee of over £2million for Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong today.

Fresh from returning to the top of the SPFL Premiership and defeating Rangers in the Sunday's Old Firm derby at Hampden Park the champions flexed their muscle off the field with the deadline day double move.

Ronnie Deila's side had already agreed a pre-contract with Mackay-Steven to take the winger to Parkhead in the summer but their persistence  paid more immediate results after a fee was finally agreed with United and the duo underwent medicals.

Mackay-Steven's signing has been confirmed and Armstrong was pictured signing a contract inside Celtic Park.

Celtic, who also completed a move for Derry City's Michael Duffy, had already seen two bids for the highly rated midfielder Armstrong turned down and there was also interest from Burnley in the player.

Elsewhere, Norwich manager Alex Neil returned to his former club Hamilton and agreed a fee of around £1m for French midfielder Tony Andreu.
