FORFAR manager Dick Campbell is asking for the same level of performance from his players when they host Alloa in the first leg of the Championship play-off final as they mustered to see off Stranraer in the semis.
The hosts reached this stage after a dashing first leg win against Stranraer earned a 3-0 home win and a solid second leg showing secured a 1-1 draw at Stair Park and Campbell is looking for his men to keep delivering at a high standard.
The Forfar manager explained: "Both legs were different in terms of how we played the game but the effort put in by the players was tremendous in both. We created a lot of opportunities in the first meeting with Stranraer and the scoreline did not flatter us, whereas we saw the second leg out tightly and professionally."
"Our tactics may change again but all I will ask the players is to go about this game in the same manner as they have the last two. If they do that I am sure that we will go out and put on a positive display."
Campbell added: "We have had Alloa watched a few times and they have had a lift from Danny Lennon going in there recently. We know that they will be tough opponents however we have nothing to fear."
Stuart Malcolm is available after a ban and Dale Hilson is fit again however Mark Baxter remains out with an ankle problem.
Alloa boss Danny Lennon is looking for his men to show the form that established a two-goal lead in the first leg of their semi-final against Brechin and not play the way they did in the second leg at the weekend.
The Glebe Park men pulled a goal back to set up a nervous ending to their semi and Lennon is hoping that normal service will be resumed in Angus.
Lennon said: "The boys have been terrific since I came in with big performances in big games against Dumbarton, Cowdenbeath and the first meeting with Brechin. Their performances have been full of drive, energy and commitment however on Saturday we were pretty flat for some reason."
"I will put it down to being a one-off as the players have shown that they can handle big occasions. If we had lost to Cowdenbeath we would have been relegated but the players were very strong that day. I am looking for them to be strong again and go out and get the result we desire."
"Dick has done a great job at Forfar this season and they will see this game as a second bite at the cherry in terms of promotion. Any disappointment at losing out on the league will have gone and they will be going out all for promotion this way."
Lennon added: "I am sure that if we play like we have in the games before Saturday we will give a good account of ourselves."
Jason Marr and Stephen Simmons remain out injured with Michael Doyle set to join them after picking up a hamstring problem early into Saturday's game.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
