KRIS DOOLAN insists his mind is only on Partick Thistle's promotion prospects – and not what the future holds for him.
Thistle can clinch the Irn-Bru First Division title with a point against Falkirk today and seal their long-awaited return to the SPL.
Partick have already tied up their goalkeeper Scott Fox on a new two-year deal but Doolan, who is one of a host of Alan Archibald's key players out of contract this summer, is happy to put his own commitments on the backburner.
He said: "I am not sure what is happening just now to be honest. All I have done is focus on the games.
"I have just got my head down and looked to work through it. I don't know what is happening yet. The main aim is to win promotion with Thistle and I will be delighted if we can do that.
"I would hope there will be an offer but it is not up to me. Hopefully, I have done enough to prove I should get a contract. It is a club I love. I'm looking to keep that going until the end of the season and I will see what happens then.
"I have not heard from anyone so I am just keeping my head down. I want to make sure we have the SPL status first before we concentrate on anything else.
"We will see what happens at the end of the season. We are all pushing the same way and we have the same aim so we want to win the league and then we will take it from there."
Thistle could have been heading to Falkirk today with the title already wrapped up had Archibald's side not spurned the opportunity to claim it at home to Raith Rovers in midweek.
With a nine-point lead over second-placed Morton and just three games to go, it is likely a matter of time before their status as champions is confirmed and Doolan is determined to complete the job as soon as possible.
"It would have been nice to win at home in front of our own fans but the main thing is that we get over the line," added the striker. "The aim all season has been to win the league and it is well within our grasp. It was unfortunate we couldn't do it at home on Tuesday night but the quicker we do it the better.
"There are not easy places to go in the First Division, everywhere you go is tough and Falkirk is no different. We will prepare for it the same way as we have all season and, hopefully, we can get the job done."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
