John Gemmell says he is stunned that the Scotland internationalist has been issued with a notice of complaint after being filmed singing about Hearts' financial plight in a pub before Sunday's Edinburgh derby. Griffiths, a Hibs fan and a former player for the club, will appear before the SFA on April 24.
Gemmell was censured by the governing body last month after calling McCoist a 'p****' on Twitter for moaning about the Ibrox's side festive fixture schedule of four games in 11 days.
The striker, back on Twitter following a brief break, said: "Don't see what #LeighGriffiths has done wrong? No swearing or anything, just banter at a game with the team he supports #WorldGoneMad #Hide.
"Can't believe he's up in front of the panel for that #PrayForSanity."
In response to the Arbroath manager Paul Sheerin, who joked that Gemmell should keep his opinions to himself, the forward said: "True ha ha, no swearing from me anymore. . . on the other hand, that Arbroath manager is a right £££££ hahaha."
