CRAIG GORDON has warned that Rangers are strong enough to deliver a major upset in the Scottish League Cup semi-final and said Celtic cannot think about winning Sunday's match by a few goals.

Rangers have been written off as 7/1 outsiders to win the first Old Firm game since April, 2012, and many Celtic fans will turn up at Hampden hoping to see a rout of their weak Championship opponents.

But goalkeeper Gordon insisted there would be no complacency among the Celtic players and he used their narrow weekend win at Ross County as evidence of how tight things could become in the cup tie. Celtic moved three points clear at the top of the SPFL Premiership but beat bottom club Ross County only via a deflected Kris Commons shot in Dingwall.

"We got by against Ross County with just one goal and they set up to stop us scoring," said Gordon. "That shows you cannot go into any game thinking about how many goals you are going to score or anything like that. You go out in any match intending to win your own individual battle and try to win, whatever the scoreline.

"I don't feel there is added pressure on us. Rangers still have enough quality in their team to win a game, so we'll be looking at ourselves and our preparation. It's not just experience Rangers have but good, quality players, too. There is experience and quality and we'll have to be wary of that, as well as causing our own problems.

"Is it a 50-50 game? They probably always are, regardless of who is playing for the two sides. The form book goes out of the window in Celtic versus Rangers matches and there are two sides with 11 men desperate to win the game. When you have that, anything can happen. It's a semi-final and a massive match, but it would be massive anyway."
