EFE Ambrose has predicted that John Guidetti will make as big an impact on Celtic as Gary Hooper if he stays at the club beyond his current loan deal.

Hooper scored 82 goals in three seasons before leaving Parkhead in a £5m move to Norwich City in the summer of 2013. Ambrose described the Englishman as the best striker Celtic have had in his time at the club but said Guidetti had the potential to be just as good. Guidetti has scored 11 times in 12 appearances since he arrived on loan and supporters are desperate for the club to offer a deal which will keep the 22-year-old at Celtic beyond the end of the season.

The players are just as enthusiastic for him to stay, according to Ambrose. ??When you have a striker who is blessed with goals in his feet then it??s a plus for his team. Right now, he has the magic boots and all we can do is support him and make sure we utilise him.

??I would say Gary Hooper is the best striker I??ve played with at Celtic and I??d say he??s still on top but Guidetti has only been here a short time on loan and he??s doing great. He??s not there yet, but I believe if he stays for a long time then he can fill Hooper??s shoes. When Hooper left, ??Puff?? [Kris Commons] stepped in. You see now that ??Puff?? isn??t scoring but Guidetti is scoring. Right now he is the one doing the job and all we need to do is keep praying he doesn??t get injured and he keeps on scoring because when you have someone like him who is on fire then you have to keep lighting him up.

??It was never going to be easy to replace Hooper but it??s a collective thing. We??re a team now, we??re working hard as a team. It??s not about individuals. If the team has a good structure, tactical discipline and we do what the gaffer says then it doesn??t matter who scores.??
