IN-DEMAND midfielder Scott Allan insists he is fully focused on Hibernian's promotion push despite interest from Celtic and Rangers.

Allan, 23, claimed PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year last season and has reportedly been attracting admiring glances from both sides of the Old Firm.

The classy playmaker has just one year left of his contract at Easter Road, however head coach Alan Stubbs yesterday made it clear he would rather lose the player on a free transfer than sell him during the current transfer window.

With the Leith club in no mood to budge - the Parkhead side were understood to be weighing up a £500,000 bid - Allan is ready to see out his contract in Edinburgh and be the lynchpin of their attempts to secure a Premiership return.

He said: "I have a year left on my contract and I am looking forward to the start of the season here. Nothing has changed.

"I just get on with my business every day and I don't look too much at [the speculation]. Obviously, you hear whispers here and there but my priority is Hibs and making sure I kick on next season."

Allan kick-started his career last term following his release by English Premier League side West Brom.

His form, which saw him thrive in the heart of midfield for Hibs, underlined the potential which saw him leave Dundee United for The Hawthornes in 2012.

After that ill-fated move - failing to make a senior appearance for West Brom before loan spells with Portsmouth, MK Dons and Birmingham - Allan admits he has unfinished business south of the border.

He said: "In the future I would like another opportunity down in England but for the moment I just want to look at next season and make sure I improve from what I did last season."
