Blackpool moved nine points clear of the drop zone after a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The result was achieved following an early goal from former Hearts striker Ricardo Fuller. It also required the Bloomfield Road side to scrap against their determined visitors to make sure of holding on to three valuable points.
"It wasn't a great game," said Ferguson. "It is not the way that I want to play football but I made a conscious decision a couple of weeks ago that it is all about getting results.
"I have put in a new system and formation in place and they have taken to it well. It is all very well to play nice football but I want some steel and metal in the head."
