Dundee last night re-entered the frame for Mark Kerr's signature after the midfielder's proposed move to St Johnstone stalled.

The former Dundee United player had been made an offer by the Dens Park earlier in the summer but was expected to join the Perth club. Now, though, Barry Smith may rekindle his interest.

"It is something we will look at although I can't say too much before I speak to him," Smith said. "It might just be a case of someone becoming available. I am waiting to hear back from a couple of players so there are a few options."

Smith's hand could be strengthened by the return of his injured men after the international break. "It has come at a good time," he said. "When guys are carrying knocks, it's good to get time to enable them to clear up."
