John Devlin, the Albion Rovers chairman, has assured supporters and the Scottish Professional Football League that tomorrow's League 2 match between his club and Peterhead will go ahead as planned despite a fire breaking out at Cliftonhill earlier this week.

The Coatbridge ground is suspected of having been targeted by vandals who started a fire and caused substantial damage to a snack bar located alongside the main stand. However, Rovers have eased concerns that tomorrow's league match will be affected.

"The fire looks to have been started deliberately and the snack bar is badly damaged," said Devlin yesterday. "We are thankful that the fire did not spread and the main stand was not affected. The matter has been reported to the police [and] underlines how vulnerable the stadium is to vandals."
