Andy Little has dismissed the negative statistics surrounding Northern Ireland as "pub chat" but admits they need an overdue win against Luxembourg.
Michael O'Neill, the manager, has presided over three defeats and a draw since taking the top job. A loss to Russia in Friday's first qualifier took the team's winless streak to eight matches and their only success in 16 outings came at home to the Faroe Islands.
"If that's what people like to talk about then maybe it's good pub chat but it's not something we think about going into games," said the Rangers striker.
"We should be performing better, we know that. Albeit we've had a bad start in Russia but it's a fresh campaign and we can kick on from here.
"Luxembourg will not be easy but home advantage will be key. If it is goals we're looking for, I want to contribute to that."
