FORMER Aberdeen striker Chris Maguire is desperate to sign a new deal at Sheffield Wednesday.

The twice-capped Scotland international is out of contract at the Yorkshire club in the summer after three years at Hillsborough.

He netted his seventh goal of the season in the weekend draw against Bournemouth and he's hoping that will be enough to earn him a new deal in Sheffield.

Maguire said: "I am enjoying my football and loving it here.

"I would be happy to stay. The boys are brilliant and so is the manager. The contract situation is out of my hands. I can only keep performing.

"I know I have not had the best of seasons but I have contributed at times.

"When things aren't going well for you, you dig in. I'm not that type of player to hide when things aren't going my way."
