KENNY McDOWALL has revealed he would settle for the narrowest of victories as Rangers take on a Cowdenbeath side stinging from their 10-goal loss to Hearts last weekend.
The Ibrox side travel to Central Park knowing they will be expected to rack up a similarly comfortable victory but McDowall, who could be in charge of the team for the final time following the regime change at Rangers, is not looking for anything beyond taking three points.
"It's 11-0 we need to win now!" he smiled."Seriously, though, it's a difficult game for us. The venue itself makes it a difficult place to go. That's a leveller right away.
"I know Jimmy Nicholl [the Cowdenbeath manager] well and I know he will be hurting after last week, it's not nice when that happens. I felt for Jimmy, I will be honest with you.
"Nevertheless, we need to go there and get three points this weekend. I am expecting a tough game, simply because of what happened last week. It's a no-win situation but that's always the case at Rangers. If we win 1-0 it wouldn't bother me at all. Get the points and get back out. We only beat them 1-0 at Ibrox earlier in the season so I'm not being kidded because it will be a tough game. It's not going to be a landslide, not at all."
With King's consortium now in power, the Rangers support is expected to return in numbers to back the team, both at Cowdenbeath this afternoon and then at the home game with Queen of the South on Tuesday.
"Our supporters have been fantastic, they have been through a helluva lot these past four years so I can't thank them enough," added McDowall.
"They've stood by this club. We always have a great away support so I know they will back us on Saturday. It would be great to see this stadium full again come Tuesday. That will give the players a massive lift. It's like an extra man in these situations and I'm sure the boys would rise to the occasion. You can't beat a packed stadium.
"You notice when the place isn't full but do you want to use it as an excuse? I think you know the answer to that. We haven't done well enough on the park and that's where our problems have come. We're at the business end of the season and there's still time. It's important we keep the performances levels higher than they have been."
