Miller keen on taking short-term loan deal in Scotland

ST MIRREN have made inquiries about signing Kenny Miller on a short-term loan deal.

The Vancouver Whitecaps striker is keen to continue playing during the Major League Soccer close season and Hibernian have already confirmed they would be interested in taking the 32-year-old back for a second spell at Easter Road.

Now it has emerged that St Mirren would also like to bolster their attacking options next month by adding the player to their squad until the MLS season begins again in March.

Danny Lennon, the St Mirren manager, has spoken to Miller who is understood to be enthusiastic about the prospect of joining the Paisley club on a temporary deal. An agreement, though, is still some way off, with Whitecaps yet to give the green light for Miller to play competitive football during their winter break.

“We’ve had initial contact with Kenny and now we’re awaiting news on that one,” Lennon told Herald Sport last night. “I’m always interested in good players and proven goalscorers and Kenny comes into that category. There’s always an opportunity for the MLS guys to come over here in the winter and play but it’s not always straightforward getting it done. But until you get a definite ‘no’ there is always a chance.”
