Rangers frontman Kenny Miller insists the Ibrox squad will not let themselves get dragged into the boardroom power struggle.

Mike Ashley appears to have grabbed control of the Glasgow giants after the board approved his £2million loan. The stock exchange will be informed on Monday morning of the move.

Ibrox chairman David Somers - backed by directors James Easdale and Norman Crighton - killed off Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy's last-gasp bid to provide the club with emergency funding on Saturday as Newcastle chief Ashley got the thumbs-up.

Former oldco director Dave King has refused to concede defeat in his bid to push through a £16million investment plan, but the reality is that Ashley has won.

Chief executive Graham Wallace - currently on holiday in Greece - will be forced out by the Sports Direct tycoon at an emergency general meeting, meaning fresh turmoil is just around the corner.

But Miller claims the players will not let the saga distract them from battling back to the Scottish Premiership.

The striker - who netted the opener in Rangers' 3-0 Championship win over Dumbarton on Saturday - said: "There is a lot of off-field stuff but for the lads it's fine. We can only affect what goes on on a Saturday. It's important we focus on that.

"If we're going to achieve anything this year we'll have to concentrate on the job and that's winning games, making sure we get back to the Premiership.

"We stick to the football and leave the off-field stuff to the people it concerns."

Rangers will be back in action again on Tuesday as they host top-flight St Johnstone in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Just 15,000 fans turned out to see their side beat Inverness in the previous round and the growing unrest amongst the Light Blues faithful following Ashley's power-grab could see that meagre attendance repeated against the Perth men.

But Miller is not worried about a supporter no-show, saying: "That is not a concern for us at all. We are firmly focused on what we want to do. We want to win things this year.

"Tuesday is another quarter-final. We got through one last week against East Fife so it is important we build on the last couple of performances.

"We have played some great stuff, scored a great level of goal and it's important we stick to that.

"We are playing a high level of opposition but if we play in the way we have done in the last couple of weeks we will pose a threat to anyone."

Miller netted his second goal in three games since returning for a six-week calf tear lay-off against the Sons.

But the former Scotland international believes he has got more to give.

"I'm feeling like I'm getting back to my best," he said. "It is going to take games. That's me played two full games with a wee bit on Tuesday night, so I feel I am getting there.

"But it might take another three or four before I get that match sharpness back.

"At the moment I feel great, though. It's good to come back into a side that has got a few goals."
