MARK REYNOLDS and Peter Pawlett of Aberdeen have been brought into the Scotland squad for this month's friendly against Nigeria.

The former under-21 internationalists were called up for the first time after four players pulled out of Gordon Strachan's pool for the Craven Cottage match on May 28.

The Scottish Football Association confirmed that Wigan Athletic pair James McArthur and Gary Caldwell are out, as well as West Bromwich Albion midfielder Graham Dorrans and Manchester United's Darren Fletcher. Defender Reynolds was Aberdeen's player of the year, while 23-year-old Pawlett scored seven goals in the best season of his career.

"I'm delighted and it'll be a great boost to them as well as an indication as to how much they have improved as players," said Derek McInnes, the Aberdeen manager. "I'm confident this will be the first of many call-ups."
