DANIEL Purvis regained his all-around title by upstaging England's world silver medallist Max Whitlock in the British Championships at Liverpool's Echo Arena last night.

Scotland's Commonwealth parallel bars champion led going into the final floor routine where he put in a near-flawless display to score 15.300 points.

It took his all-around total to 88.500 points and gave him his first British title since 2012, after winning silver behind Whitlock for the previous two years.

Southport YMCA team-mate Frank Baines, also part of Scotland's Commonwealth Games' silver-medal winning team last summer, took second place with 86.350 points.

It was the first time the 19 year-old former European Junior all-around champion had gained a podium place in the senior event at the British Championships.

England's Amy Tinkler won the women's all-around title.
