RELEGATION will not make the clearance of Queen's Park Rangers' high-earning squad any easier for Harry Redknapp.

The club's manager admitted as much as their fate was sealed in an uneventful scoreless draw with Reading yesterday which also consigned their opponents to a season in the npower Championship. The former Tottenham boss admitted moving big-name players out will not be an easy task.

"There are problems within the club," he conceded. "There are an awful lot here that have good contracts and it would be hard to get rid of them even if I wanted to shift them. I've heard over the years that players will want to leave because you have been relegated but where are they going to go?

"It has not been an easy club to manage, but if it had been easy, I wouldn't have got the job – Mark [Hughes] would still been sitting here now."

Redknapp replaced Hughes at Loftus Road in November with the club on four points from their opening 12 games. Reading also changed manager during the campaign with Nigel Adkins replacing Brian McDermott but that move also failed to salvage the club's Premier League status with the new manager taking two points from five games.

"We know where we will be next season and have players who have experienced the Championship, but like all clubs there will certainly be players coming and going," he added.
