Wayne Rooney will warn the younger members of the England squad they must not be intimidated by the hostile reception tomorrow night at Celtic Park, where they take on Scotland.

Rooney knows all about the white-hot atmosphere of Celtic Park, having played there twice with Manchester United and also watched from the stands after being given tickets by former team-mates Alan Stubbs and Roy Keane.

"The atmosphere was great when I was in the crowd, unbelievable," the England captain said, "but you don't realise until you're on that pitch what it's really like."'

On Saturday, Rooney was presented with a golden cap from Sir Bobby Charlton to mark his 100th game for England, and he inspired his side to a 3-1 victory after they had gone behind to a Jordan Henderson own goal. Rooney equalised from the spot shortly afterwards and Danny Welbeck added the other two.

Manager Roy Hodgson confirmed after the match that Manchester City keeper Joe Hart had been released from the squad, opening the door for former Celtic keeper Fraser Foster, now at Southampton, to take over against Scotland.
