FORFAR Athletic moved alongside Morton at the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Stranraer at Station Park.

Gavin Swankie - with his 10th goal of the campaign - contributed the only goal after 20 minutes when he took advantage of a mistake by Scott Robertson.

Stranraer had their chances but Forfar held firm to leapfrog their opponents and share the league leadership.

Morton remain top only on goal difference after they lost 2-1 at Airdrieonians.

Bryan Prunty opened the scoring after 56 minutes after Morton lost possession in midfield, lobbing the ball over Derek Gaston.

Ten minutes later, Nathan Blockley added a second with a low

shot.

Morton finished strongly with Ross Caldwell hitting the crossbar with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Jamie McCluskey did finally get the ball in the net but, deep into injury-time, it was nothing more than a consolation.

Peterhead ended Brechin City long unbeaten run in the league with a 3-0 victory at Balmoor.

Gary McDonald made the breakthrough for Peterhead after 32

minutes, his fourth goal since joining the club.

Rory McAllister could have added a second before half-time but

Colin Hamilton also had a chance at the other end.

Hamilton was sent off after 63 minutes and David Cox added a

second for Peterhead before Jordan Brown completed the scoring.

Dunfermline Athletic were held 1-1 by bottom-of-the-table Stirling Albion at East End Park.

Michael Moffat hit the crossbar for Dunfermline in the first half but Stirling held firm.

Gordon Smith gave Stirling a 70th-minute lead after a Lewis

Coult header hit the crossbar but Andy Geggan equalised five

minutes later with a header. Moffat could have won it at the end but shot wide.

Ayr United and Stenhousemuir drew 0-0 at Somerset Park. The home side had the better chances but could not find a way past Greg Fleming.
