Kevin Thomson, the Hibernian midfielder, admits he is looking to the future after helping out junior side Edinburgh United in a coaching role.

The Scotland cap, who has fallen out of favour at Easter Road under manager Terry Butcher, has been assisting United manager Johnny Harvey during training sessions.

Thomson has already completed his UEFA B coaching Licence and has aspirations of making the switch to the dugout when he hangs up his boots.

"It's just a natural progression. I'm not getting any younger, I'm 29. I've always quite fancied trying my hand at being a manager and a coach. I'd like to give something back to the game."
