Dundee United last night made an increased offer of £100,000 to Rangers following the signing of Charlie Telfer.

The 19-year-old moved to Tannadice during the summer having spent more than 10 years in Glasgow, with Rangers determined to be compensated.

A tribunal has been set up to rule on such a fee, but it has since been delayed until January. United made an initial offer of £60,000 plus VAT for the midfielder - who scored on his first start for United, against St Mirren earlier this month - but it is understood that Rangers want £200,000.

"I have watched how the younger players at United are allowed to develop in the first team," Telfer said after agreeing a three-year contract. "And that has been a big reason in my decision to join the club."
