IN-DEMAND winger Jamie Walker has handed Hearts a massive boost by insisting he is keen to star in the SPFL Premiership with the Tynecastle outfit next term.

Walker is enjoying the most prolific campaign of his career, scoring 11 goals in 32 outings - including a burst of eight in 11 matches - during the Gorgie side's march to the title.

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson has described him as "the best technical player at the club". That blistering form, which will undoubtedly put Walker in the running for SPFL Championship player of the year, has reportedly attracted admiring glances from Birmingham City and Spanish outfit Real Betis.

However, Walker, who still has two years to run on his current deal, is adamant he wants to remain a Hearts player ahead of the club's return to the top flight next term. The 21-year-old said: "I am happy here and want to give it a crack in the Premiership with Hearts. With the team we have just now we'd be able to give it a good shot.

"We have a quality squad and, if we add some new faces in the summer, then I think we will do well.

"Winning games breeds confidence so that has helped. There is no doubt I am a better player. It may have been the Championship this season for us but the quality of teams has been good with the likes of Hibs and Rangers to compete against, so personally my form has been pleasing.

"I have been playing well and scoring goals and it is credit to the backroom staff for how they have worked with me. Hopefully I can keep that going next season."
