Watt rewarded after memorable few weeks with new four-year Celtic deal

TONY WATT last night signed an improved contract at Celtic and said he hopes his deal will allow him to be remembered for more than just his goal against Barcelona.

The Coatbridge 18-year-old further franked his potential when he sealed the 2-1 win over the Catalan giants a week ago, and reaped a tangible reward yesterday when he signed a two-and-a-half year extension to stay at Parkhead with an option to take him through to 2016.

Watt, who has scored six times during the current campaign, is a former season- ticket holder at the club and was playing boys' club football in Lanarkshire as recently as four years ago. He had never wanted to be anywhere else.

"There would have been other options but I don't want them," the player said. "This is where I want to be. It is the best place to learn, at one of the biggest clubs around. I would never have expected this two or three years ago.

"I have been here two years already and they have probably been the best two years of my life. Hopefully the club take up the option and I am here even longer. People will know who I am because of that goal. But hopefully I can keep going on and on, do more things and people will know me for other goals I score."
