Danny Wilson is expected to line up against Hibernian in Sunday's Edinburgh derby after the Hearts captain made a welcome return to training yesterday.
The 22-year-old was sidelined for the 5-1 win over Dumbarton at the weekend after suffering a hamstring strain against Alloa Athletic in Hearts' previous outing.
Jordan McGhee comfortably deputised during the dominant victory, however head coach Robbie Neilson will want his captain in the starting line-up for what promises to be a sterner test at Easter Road.
Wilson was back on the training ground at the club's Riccarton base yesterday. It is understood he took part in a light session but is expected to step up his recovery as the week progresses. Barring set-backs in the coming days, he is expected to lead Hearts out against Hibernian in Sunday's televised encounter.
Across the city, another Danny could be lining up against Wilson. Danny Handling's attitude and application in the 4-0 win over Livingston were singled out for special praise by the Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs and the young striker, who scored his side's second goal, may just have played his way into contention for the derby.
Prior to Saturday, the 20-year-old had not started a competitive match since an underwhelming outing against Dumbarton on August 26.
However, Stubbs admitted it had been impossible to keep the waspish attacker out of his starting line-up following a series of impressive displays in training and for the club's under-20 side.
"He's played a couple of under-20s games and he's been really good, not just in his performance but with his attitude as well," he said. "I was conscious of finding a way to get him into the team, because he deserved that.
"He scored an outstanding goal for the 20s last week against Kilmarnock where he started the move in his own box and finished it and against Livingston he put his chance away really well."
