Tommy Wright, the St Johnstone manager, does not support a winter break in the SPFL Premiership.

The Northern Irishman was asked for his views after it was confirmed that Celtic had been granted permission to postpone a home match against St Johnstone on January 10.

The Glasgow side will instead jet off to train in warmer weather - an option which is beyond the budget of most of their Scottish top-flight rivals.

Wright, whose side face Ross County in the league tomorrow, does not believe there should be a break to the domestic campaign during the winter months. "I think you get enough breaks with the internationals," he said.

"I can understand the reasons for it but I think there's enough reasons against it as well and it will lengthen your season."
