Scotland's men advanced to face France in the semi-finals of the European Team Championships in Silkeborg, Denmark, but there was disappointment for the boys' team at Murcar Links and the girls' team at Linkopings in Sweden.
At the demanding tree-lined Silkeborg layout, the men, winners of the 2012 Home Internationals, were 4-3 quarter-final winners over Germany, with Glenbervie's in-form Graeme Robertson involved in two wins.
Robertson and Jack McDonald, of Kilmarnock Barassie, were successful in the foursomes again and Robertson then had a 3&1 win over Maximilian Mehles, but the talented teenager Dominic Foos replied with a 4&3 defeat of McDonald.
With Martin Keskari in charge against James Ross of Royal Burgess – he saw out a 3&2 victory – it was down to Blairgowrie's Bradley Neil and Scott Borrowman, last year's SGU Men's Order of Merit champion, to secure the singles wins Scotland required.
Neil, a late replacement for Grant Forrest as he prepares for his Open debut at Muirfield next week, finished strongly to complete a 3&2 win over Maximilian Rottluff, before Dollar's Borrowman held his nerve on the 18th to defeat Maximilian Roehrig by a hole. "It's one of the best feelings I have had on a golf course," said Borrowman. "It was really good to get over the line as a team after such a tight match all the way.
"I was one down after 14 having lost a ball off the tee there, but made a birdie on 15 and had a birdie conceded on 16 to turn it around. The 18th is an intimidating hole – it is 450 yards – but I made a good par 4 there after a nice chip when I needed it. In individual play your head can go down from time to time, but not in team golf. You never give up, especially when you are playing for Scotland."
However, on another glorious day at Murcar, a disappointing afternoon session ended the hopes of Scotland's boys as they went down 4-3 to Norway, after having won both the morning foursomes ties.
Tantallon's Calum Hill was the sole singles winner for the Scots, with the tie between Connor Syme, of Dumfries and County, and Viktor Hovland proving decisive.
The Norwegian went out of bounds at the 18th to take the match to extra holes and Syme, on his 18th birthday, missed a chance from six feet for victory at the 19th before his hopes ended after he drove near the edge of a bush at the 20th.
Scotland's girls were outclassed 6-1 by Spain, the leading qualifiers, in their quarter-final at Linkopings GC in Sweden. Their point came from halved singles ties involving Gullane's Lauren Whyte and Connie Jaffrey, of Troon Ladies.
The Scottish women, who missed out on the Championship Flight, at Fulford in Yorkshire, were 3-2 winners over Norway in the Second Flight and will play Belgium in the semi-finals, with ninth place overall as their target.
The Carnoustie Ladies pair of Ailsa Summers and Jess Meek won the foursomes tie and they got over the line courtesy of singles wins for Kilmacolm's Eilidh Briggs and her Renfrewshire county team-mate, Alyson McKechin, the Scottish champion from Elderslie.
