The World Golf Championship-Cadillac Match Play will feature a World Cup-style draw to determine the composition of the 16 four-man groups competing at Harding Park in San Francisco.

The top seed for each group will be one of the top 16 players in the world rankings with the remaining group members drawn from three pools on Monday, April 27.

Pool 1 features players ranked 17th to 32nd, pool two has players 33rd to 48th and pool three those ranked 49th to 64th.

The WGC tournaments began in 1999 and the Match Play had been played at Dove Mountain in Arizona from 2007 to 2014, with Australian Jason Day beating France's Victor Dubuisson in last year's final.

However, with Accenture's sponsorship coming to an end and the Valero Texas Open moving to before the Masters in 2015, the tournament needed to find a new sponsor and new place in the schedule.

A new format was also chosen, with the 64-man field divided into 16 groups of four instead of the traditional straight knockout.

Group matches will be played on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and the winner of each group advances to the last 16 on Saturday morning, with the quarter-finals on Saturday afternoon. The semi-finals will be held on Sunday morning with the final and consolation match later the same day.

Next year the event will move to Austin, Texas - home of new sponsor Dell - and will be held in the week beginning March 21.
