Steven Lawless, the Partick Thistle winger, is set to be charged with betting on matches according to reports.

It is understood that Tony McGlennan, the SFA's compliance officer, will issue the 24-year-old with a notice of complaint within the next day or so.

The powers-that-be in the Scottish game have adopted a zero tolerance approach to gambling in matches and Lawless could become the fourth player to be charged.

Ian Black and Alan Simonsen, the Rangers duo, have already been punished with Black being banned for 10 games, seven of them suspended, and fined £7,500.

Michael Moffat, the former Ayr United player, was given a four match ban for his indiscretions.
