Paul Lawrie's name will just about be everywhere on the Scottish golfing scene this season.

In addition to his matchplay event on the European Tour, a new tournament on the third-tier PGA EuroPro Tour, a series of tournaments on the Ladies Tartan Tour and his own invitational contest on the men's Tartan Tour, the 1999 Open champion yesterday announced that the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre in Aberdeen will host and co-sponsor the Scottish Par 3 Championship.

The two-day championship will be staged on June 13-14 over Lawrie's nine-hole course on the southern bank of the River Dee and will involve a number of players that he supports through his own Foundation, some invited professionals from across Scotland and a gathering of emerging talent that Lawrie nurtures and mentors. The 36-hole shoot-out will boast a prize fund of around £15,000.

Meanwhile, Carnoustie's Will Porter, the new Scottish Boys' champion, has been named in a four-man Scotland team for this summer's Toyota World Junior Golf Team Championship in Japan.

Glasgow's Calum Fyfe, and Edinburgh duo Murray Naysmith and Chris Curran make up the side for the trip to the far east. It is the first time a Scottish team has qualified for the event since 2007 and they will be one of only four European nations involved in the prestigious contest.
