Paul Di Resta is determined to keep living the Formula One dream, although has revealed there are other options.

The future of Di Resta, along with Force India team-mate Adrian Sutil, is up in the air as the season reaches its denouement.

Speculation is rife co-owner and team principal Vijay Mallya is to look elsewhere, with strong suggestions Nico Hulkenberg has already been re-signed.

Hulkenberg quit the Silverstone-based team at the end of last year to join Sauber, and while Lotus are eager to hand the German a deal, the rumour is Mallya has beaten them to it.

With Sergio Perez axed from McLaren last week, it is understood the 23-year-old Mexican is now a strong candidate to join Hulkenberg.

If the gossip is to be believed then that leaves Di Resta out of F1 after three years with the team, and in search of another drive.

It is likely to be another month yet and the team's Christmas party before Mallya announces his line-up, as has been his way over the last few years.

Di Resta said: "They know what I'm capable of here, they know what I can deliver. I feel like I'm an asset to the team.

"But I can't make the decision for them, and I have to respect their decision.

"I've said all along I'd love to be part of it. I've expressed that to the senior management, bosses and the shareholders.

"Obviously, things are getting tighter in the midfield to get seats, so I have to be content with what I've done, and I believe over the last four races I've done what's been asked of me.

"I don't know what will happen. I've got to wait and see. We can only work in the background in trying to secure my Formula One future.

"We're speaking, and that's all you can do. All is not confirmed yet."

Asked whether moving to another series is an option, Di Resta said: "I've got interest, but my primary objective is to stay in Formula One, and that's what I'm concentrating on.

"I built a good reputation in DTM (winning the title in 2010), and there are other opportunities in a few other series.

"But I'll continue to live this dream I am in because I believe this is where I should be at the moment. I've put in the performances for that."

One possibility for Di Resta is a move to IndyCar where cousin Dario Franchitti made such a name for himself by winning four titles and three Indy 500s before announcing his retirement last week due to injuries received in a race in Houston last month.

"I've never really thought about it, to be fair," added Di Resta.

"I've always been slightly concerned about the safety of it, but sitting down and looking at it logically, it's a serious option to look elsewhere because of the success he has had.

"I'm not at that point yet, I've still a race to go and I'm doing as much as I can in this paddock to make sure I remain here."
