KYLES ATHLETIC'S players are looking to replicate their cup form over the whole campaign this year and prove once again they are genuine challengers.
The Tighnabruaich outfit opened their season on Saturday by winning the all-South encounter against newly promoted Oban Camanachd 3-1 at Mossfield Park.
Despite being one of the sport's best cup teams, Kyles have failed to match the Premiership form which to them to within 90 minutes of the title at Dunoon in 2011.
However, Dunky Kerr, who scored on Saturday, says reaching those heights again is an aspiration.
"The aim is definitely to challenge as hard as we can, for as long as we can, in the league. The trouble for us has been getting a side out consistently enough to do that.
"If we can get as many points as early as we can, that might encourage players to make that extra effort to be available because we all know that, in the cups, we can rise up a level.
"If we can get our best team out regularly, we know what we can do against anyone."
The principal barrier to title success will come once again from champions Newtonmore, who were ruthless in disposing of Lochaber 7-1 away from home.
An Evan Menzies treble was the pinnacle in a day of many highs, with would-be challengers Lovat also dropping both points, 2-0, on the road to Kinlochshiel.
Teenager Savio Genini hit a last ditch winner for Kingussie against Fort William in a 2-1 win while Glen Urquhart defeated Inveraray 2-0 at The Winterton.
