Stirling curler Lauren Gray named for Olympic team on day she graduates

Stirling curler Lauren Gray has double reason to celebrate after being named as the alternate to Eve Muirhead's Great Britain curling team for next year's Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Gray's official confirmation as the additional member of the team came on the same day as she graduated with a 2:1 in English Literature and Politics from Glasgow University.

The Stirling 21-year-old said: "I am absolutely delighted to have been selected to represent Team GB in Sochi.

"I have been working extremely hard since the last Olympic cycle to achieve as much as I can within the curling circuit to give myself the best possible chance of selection.

"I'm privileged to have been invited to join one of the best curling teams in the world on their journey to success in Sochi."

Gray was alternate to Muirhead's team which won the world title in Latvia earlier this year, and which took a silver medal at the European Championships last weekend.

The rest of the line-up, which has already been confirmed, is Muirhead, Claire Hamilton, Vicki Adams and Anna Sloan.
