Volleyball: Mullin keen to return indoors for Scotland

Shauna Mullin, the Olympic beach player, has indicated she would like to be involved with Scotland's indoor team at the World Championship qualifiers, writes Roddy Mackenzie.

The London-based player announced earlier this week that she is retiring from the international beach circuit and will not be going to Rio de Janeiro 2016 but she has not ruled out the possibility of an international return for Scotland.

A former City of Edinburgh player, who is currently playing indoors for the leading English side London Malory, she played in the World Championship qualifier against England in Sheffield in 2005 but has been concentrating on her beach game in recent years.

"I wouldn't want to go into the team just on what I'd done so far and I'd be worried about my approach to the team," she said. "I'd want them to know I was there for no other reason than I love the sport and I want to continue playing.

"I want to get my life set up in London but it's one of the things I have considered and I'd be happy to play if they'll have me. At the moment, I'm playing indoor volleyball to keep myself fit and I am really enjoying playing swing-hitter, passing and defending and wearing knee-pads again."
