Scottish teenager Adam Hall has claimed a first ever international title at senior level in partnership with England’s Chris Coles.

The pair edged out Coles’ England colleagues Ben Lane and Sean Vendy in straight games in the final of the Iceland International in Reykjavik, but they were made to fight all the way in both, coming through 21-19, 21-19.

"" I'm really happy to get my first senior win in Iceland," said Hall.

"We had a pretty slow start to the tournament but really upped our game when it mattered especially in the semi final and final against tough opponents.

"Chris and I are a new partnership, we've only played together three times, so to get a win this early will give us a huge confidence boost going into our next tournaments."

Set to turn 20 later this month the victory was ideally timed for Hall since he and veteran Robert Blair are second seeds at this week’s Scottish National Championships in Perth, while he and Coles are now through to the qualifying competition at next month’s prestigious All England Superseries Premier tournament in Birmingham.

The Mauchline player almost made it two appearances in finals in Iceland after he and Beith’s Eleanor O’Donnell knocked out Swiss second seeds Oliver Schaller and Celine Burkart on their way to the semi-finals of the mixed doubles before losing to third seeds and eventual champions Anton Kaisti of Finland and his Dutch partner Cheryl Seinen 21-19 16-21 21-14.
